Williamsburg Fashion Weekend presents its seventh season of fashion shows featuring designers who are not afraid to break the rules and cross boundaries in search of a deeper meaning to body adornment. Arthur Arbit, the founder and curator of WFW has assembled twelve designers who share his passion for unwavering, personal, take-no-prisoners aesthetic vision. The two day event will be held at Glasslands.

All about the designers involved and the event after the jump

Saturday the 20th of February:

Alisha Trimble, fashion artist behind the line ALISHA, uses crystal visions, articulating vanguard style using fit, proportion, texture, layering, and color. She pays attention to technique, craft and wearability, while exploring concept & aesthetics in her presentations. Performance artist Cleo Fishel and Alisha will collaborate on a piece they call Les Faims Mauvaises. “Les Faims Mauvaises” is a French pun, literally translates to “The Bad Hungers,” but also rhymes subtly with “Les Femmes Mauvaises,” aka “The bad women,” fashion and beauty will come together to describe the bad hunger of being female.

Desira Pesta

Channeling the look of a dated past through Postmodern and painterly means, Desira Pesta hand makes every piece of her wearable art with a reliance on the beauty and ethos of sustainable fabrics and materials, yet in an entirely unorthodox manner.

In her presentation, “Lace & Void,” literal sparks will fly with the addition of a live soundtrack. Male and female models will light the scene in a tactile and visually piercing wearable dream. Fabric clothing meets oversized plasma-cut jewelry in a duel. Employing the bold, the light, the effervescent, and the sculptural in a play of light and dark, presence and void, eyes and ears will join in delight. Props/jewelry are a collaboration with architect, Julien Leyssene

King Gurvy
The founder of Williamsburg Fashion Weekend, Arthur Arbit is also a designer of a line he created for his clothing meets art experimentation four years ago. Flights of fancy as well as creating custom garments for out of this world adventures are his platforms from which he takes off. This season his presentation and line will be a surprise to him, as much as to the audience.

FLAWK
Dexter and Lauren of FLAWK present ‘Technology vs. Nature’ a clothing and accessories collection for Fall/Winter 2010…Inspired by electronic waste, toxic decomposition and sustainability, the collection fuses natural resources with outdated bits of technology.

Total Crap Uninc.

Saira Huff an over the top and prolific artist in many disciplines, never disappoints with her hand made designs or her presentations, glam meets punk and takes it out to an avant-garde dance performance choreographed by a secretive sect of super-humans.

DJ Kountzyr0 (Trilateral Commission) spins both nights playing opening and interstitial sets.

After party on Saturday features DJ extraordinaire Jonathan Toubin.

Sunday the 21st of February:

Robot Death Kult
Erik Z and Rachel N, who run the uber-hip art gallery/performance space Secret Project Robot are Robot Death Kult. A movement whose bizarre mix of unwavering adulation fuses with staunch nihilism to embrace the banality prescribed to us through the tenets of advanced capitalism. Using fashion they deconstruct, disassociate, and overwhelm the senses with hypersonic images to the point of non-existence. They aim to replace the major attribute of consumption so that that which is hidden becomes visible and thus gratuitous-leaving us with a desire to desire. Their unyielding positivism states as affirmative axiom: if we are all machines meant to consume, then let us buy everything. Robot Death Kult disassociates itself from destructive irony so cherished by postmodernism, and embraces the new autonomy of the consumer held back by years of deprecating reactionism.

Ruffeo Hearts Lil’ Snotty
RHLS Is a cult of motivational speech persuasion. Fantasy Street: 3078. Martha Stuart touched it, she may have liked it. Debuting a brand knew collection & an invention. Mucus and a Muscular heart.
The theme for this experience is a haiku:
Squawking Flapping Goose, Hopping Frog Mild Down Syndrome, Leaping Gay Dolphin
Rap + Pha Shun – Boners = RAP PHA SHUN! New rap by Nameless. Choreographer Stephone Nicholas will “tell a heartwarming story of three zany characters on the wildest adventure of Winter 3010!” -Walter Disney.
Costume design by RHLS for These Are Powers music video, “Easy Answers” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZU91WgBhoA

Saddle Tramps Collection

Erin Frumet and Daniel Tucker Nelson are the designers behind the new label Saddle Tramps Collection. For their first collection together they focus on the desert aesthetics of Georgia O’Keeffe’s skull paintings while incorporating eerie undertones of 70’s cinematic views of outer space, the future, and cults.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPTLHWTnwfk

SDN

SDN by Marcus Hicks will present its Fall ‘10 collection of sustainable men’s and womenswear. This collection is titled BLACK SALAD and will be punctuated by an undisclosed local underground celebrity performer doing something mind-bending!

Ok the name of my line is Massafiero
the website is www.Massafiero.com

Tar and Feather

Tar and Feather are a pair of offbeat renegades making clothing that is collectable, sustainable, and pushing the boundaries of the everyday wardrobe. From cutting and sewing to printing and dying, every process has passed through their own worn hands. As you probably guessed, they are based in Brooklyn. Their show is titled “Walk of Shame”- think of having to borrow your fling’s clothes to get outside and be halfway presentable. The collection is both men’s and women’s, and will be mostly interchangeable and unisex. There are hints of last night’s behavior, like wine stains and cigarette burns, etc. Blazers will feature built in wallets.
Rawan Rihani
Rihani’s line called “nightswimming”, harks back to where ideas begin… dreams. Materials and the colors for the collection crystallize through painting, collage and mixed media. The mind wanders and explores the materials while creating the clothing and the collection evolves. There are no boundaries, it’s about experimentation, and many pieces are minimal, transformable and versatile, so one who wears the garment can manipulate it to their mood. The show will feature easy to wear and avant-garde garments plus mystical feather head pieces and jewelry. The jewelery is by Erica Peterson.

After party on Sunday features a live set by the upcoming superstar MNDR, and DJ sets by Pat, (These are Powers) Dan and Adam. (Pink Stallone)
